Catholic Health EMS Recognition Dinner

Last night members from Vigilant were recognized and received the “Exceptional Patient Care Award” at the EMS Recognition Dinner at Michael’s Catering and Banquest. Members present at the event last night were EMT John Gullo, Firefighter Rich Sainsbury, CFR Dylan Biddeman and Asst Chief Hubbard Koglmeier along with AMR Paramedic Bryan Goyette.  Members also on the call but who were unable to attend the dinner last night include: Chief Barb Mann, EMT Rob Elwell, Asst Chief Ron Bourgeois, Tom Bausch, Lou Gimbrone, Max Clifford and Dave Klawitter.
This award was given in recognition for a successful save of a woman who was choking and then went into cardiac arrest in May 2024. Vigilant along with AMR were dispatched for a person choking. The patient was found to be in cardiac arrest with bystanders performing CPR. CPR & BVM were performed along with ALS intervention established. Successful resuscitation was obtained and the patient was transported to Mercy Hospital. The patient was later discharge with a positive outcome. Great Teamwork!!

2024 Wall of Honor

Two of our members were inducted onto the Wall of Honor last night along with 8 other deserving recipients from various departments in the county. The Erie County Fire Services “Wall of Honor” was created to serve as public recognition honoring those members of Erie County’s fire service who have demonstrated through their dedication, talents and sacrifice, values that promote fire service values. Not everyone that is nominated for this award is chosen, there is a process in which nominations are thoroughly reviewed and then chosen, therefore anyone who has received this prestigious award is truly someone who has gone above and beyond for their department and community and isn’t based solely on years served. If you see either of these men, please be sure to congratulate John Gullo and Ed Lehsten for being honored as 2024 Wall of Honor Recipients. Stay tuned for more photos from last nights ceremony.
